AUTHOR’S NOTE -
Removing The Painting

This compilation of all my writings is meant to touch the lives of anyone who may read it. The writings in this book are pieces I’d written from the year1990 up until the present. Most are reflections of my own life, feelings and experiences. However, there are some in which I’ve written for other people, about other people and/or through the eyes of someone else.

Editing and publishing my magazine, N-to-U, is an outlet for me to minister to the world with my writings. It has been a valuable part of my personal growth and healing. This book is an extension of my magazine. This is the first time that I have chosen to open up to reveal a painful part of my life. Depression is a sickness that can be overcome. I was fortunate enough to have overcome it not with medication, but with God.

I felt no one understood the pain I felt. Now I realize that if only I talked to someone then I would’ve known that others were feeling the same pain I felt. Whether the pain was from a love lost, a broken heart, abuse, abandonment, etc., someone understood. The purpose of this book is to let you know that no matter what it is you’re going through, God knows. And there are so many others feeling the same way you feel, and I was one of them. You are not alone.

The title of this book is “Removing the Painting.” In 2008 I wrote a poem entitled “The Painting on the Wall.” In this poem, I talk about how I feel like I’m just a painting on the wall. People talk about how beautiful I am, but they never seem to see my center core. They couldn’t see past the beauty or they could not handle who I really am, and it frustrated me. It frustrated me because my inner beauty is so much more powerful than the outer. I wanted them to look and see ME, the real me, not just the painting. Therefore, I had to manifest the beauty that lay within.

Journey, if you will, with me on a mission to remove the painting. Each chapter is a different viewing of the painting, revealing once and for all… my center core.
